Day one: 5 漢字

日(ひ) Kanji for day and sun. It's probably the most basic kanji ever. I think the meaning usually shifts from day, sun and Japan, but I prefer recognizing it as the kanji for "day/sun" Japanese readings are ひ、び、か Classical chinese derived readings are  ジツ、ニチ In chinese the reading is rì . Vocabulary: 日々  ひび           Day 日本  にほん          Japan 毎日  まいにち      Everyday 一日  いちにち      First day of the month 日曜日 にちようび  Sunday 今日  きょう          Today 日記  にっき          Diary 前日  ぜんじつ      The day before 全日  ぜんじつ      All days 同日  どうじつ      The same day 国(くに) Country . I've been studying japanese for a while now and memorizing 漢字 has always been a struggle. I think for most people it is. Advanced learners have different suggestions when it comes to learning 漢字,  but I still haven't really figured out what is the best way for me to learn. Recently I've read an article about someone who  challenged themselve to learn 2000 漢字 in 3 months. I am NOT trying to memorize 2000 in 3 months. I actually know quite a lot of 漢字 by now, but I'm trying to be more modest here. To be honest, I never really understood the mechanics of 漢字 memorizing exercises. I had for me that the best way to actually learn 漢字 and the different readings would be, well, reading japanese, which I actually do quite a lot. So what I'm gonna try to do here is boost my chances to read and recognize faster a 漢字 when I bump into it. My goal is to have learned the 2000 most used 漢字 by the end of the year. However, I'm bad...
