I've been studying japanese for a while now and memorizing 漢字 has always been a struggle.

I think for most people it is.

Advanced learners have different suggestions when it comes to learning 漢字,  but I still haven't really figured out what is the best way for me to learn. Recently I've read an article about someone who  challenged themselve to learn 2000 漢字 in 3 months.

I am NOT trying to memorize 2000 in 3 months. I actually know quite a lot of 漢字 by now, but I'm trying to be more modest here.

To be honest, I never really understood the mechanics of 漢字 memorizing exercises. I had for me that the best way to actually learn 漢字 and the different readings would be, well, reading japanese, which I actually do quite a lot. So what I'm gonna try to do here is boost my chances to read and recognize faster a 漢字 when I bump into it.

My goal is to have learned the 2000 most used 漢字 by the end of the year. However, I'm bad at things when I don't really have a goal, SO, having said that:

I want to learn 500 in the first two months (by July), then more 500 in the following two months (by September) and then 1000 漢字 for the last three months (by December).

I'm gonna do a diary with the 漢字 and words I try to memorize everyday, from monday to friday, and then at the weekends I'm gonna use flashcards to see how my progress is going, what kanji I can recognize faster, etc.

I'm still figuring this out.

Let's try it out.
